Puppy K and Basic Manners Classes

Adding a puppy to your family calls for a celebration! Why not treat your puppy to Puppy Kindergarten classes that attendees can’t stop raving about. Our Puppy Kindergarten classes at VCA Briarcliff Animal Hospital, Atlanta, GA have been running for 10-plus years. Puppies can graduate to Basic Manners class where we raise the criteria and add in distractions.

Looking to connect with your dog, strengthen your relationship, encourage cooperation and foster mutual trust? Enjoyable for both dogs and owners, our force-free dog training is backed by studies showing that dogs learn better with non-aversive methods and is the most humane way to train dogs.

Dog Safety for Kids

Your pup and your kids are part of your pack. It’s important that they’re able to coexist in a loving, healthy manner. Richard proudly helps with just that. “Be A Tree” focuses on fun, interactive activities to teach children how to read dog body language and act safely around dogs. Want the comfort of training from your home? What about training from your home without having to change out of your sweatpants? During the pandemic, Richard pivoted to training on Zoom – and appeared in the Wall Street Journal and on the local news. He has trained dogs from New York to Illinois, and even a Poodle in Nice, France!

FAQ’s

At what age is it best to start training a puppy?

As soon as possible! Puppies are eager and ready to learn. We offer private lessons in your home, or Puppy Kindergarten class for puppies ages seven to 14/16 weeks.

What breeds of dogs do you train?

If they’ve got fur, a wagging tail, and bark, we train them! We train all breeds, all ages, and all sizes – from a tiny Teacup Poodle to a giant breed such as a Great Dane.

Is my dog too old for training?

No dog is too old to learn new tricks. From puppy to senior, any dog is welcome for training.

Will you work with me in a private or public setting?

We offer both avenues of training. We will begin in the house with no distractions and gradually progress to the outdoors where there are more distractions.

How many training sessions will my dog need?

The number of sessions is dependent on your dog. We highly encourage practice, consistency, and working with your dog in-between sessions.

Do you do board and train – can I send my dog to you to be trained?

Unfortunately, I do not offer this service. I can refer you to those in the Atlanta area who do.
